Lots of Going On's! ( A movie line from Horton hears a Who)

Gavin and I went to Monticello for the week . To help Grandma Winger with the kids. Cause my Father in law and Mother in law went to Hawaii for two weeks. Gavin and I had a great time playing at the park with Uncle Jaden, beading bracelets, genealogy. It was alot of work though cooking, cleaning and running all the kids to there different places they needed to go. All and All
a great time. Gavin is doing so well saying new words all the time. Well over a 100 words and putting two and three words sentences together. He loves to sing the wheels on the bus, the isty bisty spider, and twinkle twinkle little star. He loves Nursery he has a ball in there. Today is Dustin's Birthday He is 24. I made him a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It is yummy.
I hope we soon know the results of Gavin's test. They said this week sometime to know if he has pendrid syndrome or not. If not we have a couple more disorders to test for. We hope to have some kind of answer why he has LVA. Cause LVA can be alone or part of a disorder. The blood test is about $500.00 for each test. For us the Insurance covered the first one. We are hoping they cover the other tests as well. Our insurance denied Gavin for the Bilateral implant this was about a month ago. Since then I have been fighting and fighting them to cover the procedure. Cause if I don't fight for Gavin who will. I am proud to say I contacted Senator Orrin Hatch office I bugged his secretary everyday for a week. Telling her this isn't fair. We all should have the right to hear. After contacting my insurance company as well everyday saying what can I do to appeal this. Two weeks ago Friday I receive a call from my insurance company it is a Supervisor from Blue Cross Blue Shield saying that they received a call on behalf of Senator Orrin Hatch. Just stating that the Senator believe Gavin should receive the bilateral implant . The Supervisor than told me that my insurance covers the bilateral implant under Medical Policy #8. But the reps of Blue Cross are not trained in Medical Policies. But because I bugged the Senator, I got a Supervisor to call me and set this all straight. We just need to prove Medical Need to the insurance and she say that since we have done this once. That will save us $80,000.00. That should be easy to do. I have 5 letters from different professionals who work with Gavin on a weekly and monthly basis. 3 of those letters are from professionals that Gavin see's every week. He keeps me busy. Plus being two years old now. I really have my hands full. I wouldn't have it any other way. When Gavin turns three it will get alot easier with him and his hearing stuff. So really I only have a year of way tough overwhelming stuff. So bring it on I'm down for the Challenge. Picture's above I learn this art project when I was a little girl at Day Care. It is shaving cream and rubs in to the surface when played in after a while. Gavin loves it. He also is getting really good at coloring. Then I made these cards for a Valentine's Card swap. Not bad for my first time making cards on my own not copying anyone's idea. Just came up with it as I went. I was quite shocked how well they turned out. We will soon send out little Elmo valentines with some mini bubbles toy for Gavin's little friends around the neighborhood. We will be doing that activity this week sometime also a zoo trip is planned, cleaning, Dr appts and some crafts. Happy Valentine's Everyone!!

Heather, I'm so proud of you and how you fight for your son! He's a lucky boy! I'm also thrilled to know that Orrin Hatch's office got involved on his behalf. I'll keep it in mind for future use! :) Did you know that he was one of the authors of the original ADA bill? When I went to Washingtong DC with a bunch of high school students a few years back, he met with us. He made a point of telling us that. I think it's something he's proud of. So good to know he can be an ally at times.

That's great news. Maybe because of your persistence Utah will finally change their CI policies!
